Just One More Week before Our Departure

One week from today, we will be on our way to Sierra Leone.  It's hard to believe that the time is finally here.  Last night, we had our second "packing party."  For those of you wondering what that entails, I will explain. Each team member brought at least one of their two bags to the church.  In addition to our personal items for the trip, we have loaded lots of supplies that we'll need for our clinics. We've packed everything from toothbrushes and toothpaste to items for wound care, other medications, Bibles, supplies that midwives need for deliveries of newborns, gifts for our helpers in Sierra Leone, etc.  Each bag has been weighed and is ready to be packed into the van that will transport us to the airport next Thursday morning.

After last night's gathering, I loved getting up this morning to find that today's scripture reading is about giving thanks to God and praising his name.  Today, everyone following the 30-day prayer calendar is asked to pray for Bishop Yambasa and the church leaders in Sierra Leone.  As Psalm 105:3b says, "May the hearts of those who are seeking the Lord rejoice."  Pray that they, as well as all of our team will, "Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always." (v. 4)   As we prepare to be with the children, adults, and the church in Sierra Leone, it is so important that we continuously "call on his name" to give us stamina, peace, unity, and strength to keep us focused on revealing His love for all.  We appreciate your prayers and support for this pediatric medical mission trip.  Please stay in touch with us while we are away.  Feel free to post comments in response to these posts.  I am sure your words will mean so much to the team members.  Also, share the blog address with anyone you think may be interested.
